HIDDINK’S TEAM JUMPS TO THE EIGHTH PLACE

Russian national have recorded their best placing in FIFA rankings since 1999 yesterday.

Guus Hiddink’s camp climbed to the eighth position in FIFA rankings, which is the highest place for Russia since 1999. Russian side made maximum jump under the reigns of the Dutch specialist – since his appointment as the team head coach they jumped from the 33rd place to the eighth.

When I came to the Russian Football Union, our national team occupied the 37th place in the rankings, said the RFU president Vitaly Mutko to Sport Express. Nevertheless some people still believe that our football union’s work is unsatisfactory. Though on the other hand, we should pay too much attention to these rankings, because it changes every month. Russia should always be in the top ten list, as it’s our normal position.

Russian football union is weakened by the world financial crisis, but our national team is our priority. So far as concerning to Hiddink’s new contract, we still count on the National Football Academy and we held talks with them n this matter. In any case we will find solution to overcome permanent obstacles. The RFU has enough capabilities to develop national football.
