PRUDNIKOV TAKES RUSSIA TO THE TOP
Alexander Prudnikov scored the only goal in Russia-Poland Euro-2009 U-21 qualifier to take his team on the first place in the table.

Russian team manager Boris Stukalov had some injury worries ahead of the clash since Spartak forward Artyom Dzyuba was left out of the squad through an injury.

The team started the match with duo forwards Alexander Prudnikov and Nazim Kazharov who became the key figures of the clash.

The things went bad for the hosts after Nazim Kazharov was sent off in the first half, however it didn't tell on Russia's performance and they continued giving pressure on their opponents so Alexander Prudnikov fired in the winner with a fine strike twenty minutes before the final whistle.

Russia sit the first in Group 4 with twelve points in four games while their main competitors Spain are the second with eight points and one match in hand.
