KERZHAKOV SCORES FOR SEVILLA
Alexander Kerzhakov headed the winner for Sevilla in the first leg of UEFA quarterfinals match against Tottenham.
Russian forward managed to fire in a goal behind England’s national team goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
Russian national team will have to face England twice in Euro-2008 qualifiers so Kerzhakov has already beat their goalie which would be useful in the coming encounters.
"I headed the winner after Julien Escude's cross from the right," said Kerzhakov to Sport Express.
"The fact that I scored behind England’s goalkeeper gives special value for me."
"It’s some kind of training before our coming qualifiers against England."
"In general Paul Robinson produced good impression by his performance during the game."
"It’s clearly seen that he really deserved his number one place in the national team."
"We managed to seal a victory and this is the most important for us now."
"Tottenham were relatively satisfied with a 2-1 deficit but they will surely try to pull the tie around in return game."
"However Sevilla are going to defend the UEFA champion’s title so I hope that we will reach the next round."
"I try to watch my former club’s matches on TV and I’m greatly disappointed that they lost twice to Spartak in several days."
"I watched Zenit Russian Cup game and I should admit that Moscow team were playing better than their rivals."
